We are back after a brief hiatus and doing some reorganization. Yes we did say ear not year. Lance went in for surgery to fix a chronic case of sufers' (TM)s ear. Say what? We shall see if he can hear you shouting your HeeHaws post op. No surfie, no donkey? No way. We are well prepared for this and are going with a few archived episodes and some donkey updates on how the surgery went last time. We will now be back in regular production and look forward to some deep winter hardcore surfing. Will Craig come out of retirement to save the show? "Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
