This past weekend we closed the books on the last regional west coast events of the Totally Crustaceous season before the 2007 VQS Champs in May. Kids from up and down the coast were scrambling to snatch up those last qualifying spots at the final Butterfish event. With the event being double rated, the kids were flaring up on the fun 2-4t surf to make it count. Music by Die Hunns.
Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
