Volcom Stone's Catfish Surf Series - Aviones, Puerto Rico

Aviones sits on a beautiful little stretch of beach directly in front of our good friend and team rider Willie Carroscos house. Its also 15 min from San Juan, which has its fill of fun as well. The vibe of this event was super laid back and mellow, as the event came to a close on Sunday afternoon it seemed like the entire town was in front of Willitos house having some drinks and enjoying that last bit of light left in the day. "Record" for Largest Wave Ever Ridden Trivializes Big-Wave Surfing

A return to old-school measuring techniques is in order

Consider two representations of two very big waves, below. The first is a photograph of Mike Parsons at Cortes Bank. The second is a video of Garrett McNamara near Nazare, Portugal. Now take out some measuring tape and make the distance of one foot between your hands. That's the amount, according to the Billabong XXL committee, that McNamara's wave is bigger than Parsons's wave.
