The second Butterfish Surf Series event of the season was held at Tar Pits in Carpinteria on November 16th, 2002. The event was greated by a solid swell, sunny skies, and super glassy conditions that lasted the entire day. Over 108 competitors showed up to compete for cash and prizes.
In the Grom division it was a surprising shock for useual winner Cory Arrambedie who couldnt come up with what he needed for another win. On the other hand Colin Schlidhauer found exactly what he needed and walked away with the win.
In the Juniors division there were many surprises as well. The useual frontrunners Tom Mowry, Nick Rozsa, Bummy Koepenick didn’t win. It was localboy Brian Schmidt who walked away with a win and a new Rossignol snowboard.
In the Pro-Am there were no surprises. Local legend Henry Mills showed up at his old stomping grounds to narrowly take the win away from Nate Tyler. Rounding out the final were Carl Holm, Brian Schmidt, Dennis Rizzo, and Adam Virs.
