JELLYFISH SURF SERIES
NARAGANSETT, RHODE ISLAND
The Jellyfish surf series made it’s way to Narragansett town beach, Rhode Island on Sept 15th, 2002. We had never been to Rhode Island before and didnt know what to expect, but when over 96 competitors showed up (52 of them under age 14) at 7AM for sign up, we were in for a long day. The surf was 2ft and it rained all day but no really seemed to care, they were all so amped that a free contest was being held in their backyard.
Drew Simmons was the envy of all the little groms when hew took the first place honors in the grom division, walking away with a ton of prizes and a painted record for his trophy. He left a very happy kid!
In the Juniors division it was all about the Ride Snowboard and the bag o free stuff up for grabs for the first place finisher. Alex Croteau was the lucky one that took the win and the bragging rights home with him.
In the Pro-Am Greg Levy surfed as well as one could in the small conditions taking home $150. Ryan Richer was close behind him taking second place and 50 bucks to the bank.
we can’t wait to head back to Rhode Island next year, this was a great event and there was no way we could have pulled it off if it wasnt for the people that helped us out. A huge thanks goes out to Tom Hogan and all the employees of Warm Winds Surf Shop for helping making this event a success. Thanks to Paul Danchek, and the people of Rhode Island for their hospitallity.
