VOLCOM STONES-TOTALLY CRUSTACEOUS TOURSEACOW SURF SERIES EVENT #2NATURAL ART SURF SHOP-COCOA BEACH, FLORIDASEPTEMBER 16TH 2001 The Seacow Surf Series VQS Event #2 was held on Sunday, September 16th across from Natural Art Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach. This event attracted some of the best surf for any East Coast contest this year by far. It had been raining for about two weeks but luckily cleared up for our event with sunny blue skies all day. The swell that hit the day before built slightly overnight and gave us glassy 4-6 foot fun lines all day. Close to 80 competitors competed for a huge assortment of product and cash prizes with absolutely no entry fee of course.
In the Grom division young Eddie Guilbeau put on a show for us and took over the grom division. Volcom’s own Nick Guilarte took top honors in the Junior division as well as falling in the runner up position in the Pro-Am division taking second to Jax Beach’s Nick Brenner. Cam Anderson and Todd Holland were killing it all day and fell into the 3rd and 4th positions in the finals.
We always throw together a Volcom Girls division which found us with 8 girls battling it out in the large surf which found young Ashley Bobb taking number one position. An unreal day was had by all.
A huge VOLCOM STONE thanks goes out to the committed and unreal backing we have had by our dedicated sponsors this year: SECTOR 9 SKATES, VON ZIPPER EYEWEAR, GLOBE SHOES, K-GRIP, FCS, O&E, HAPPY MAG, TRANSWORLD SURF, SURFING MAG., SURFER MAG, ESM, SUNCURE, STICKY BUMPS, SLATER BOARDS INT’L, AND HURRICANE GABRIELLE.
We would also like to thank the local sponsors who are always behind VOLCOM, the stoked kids and the surfing. We would also like to give another huge thanks to are GRILLS SEAFOOD, DECK AND TIKI BAR AT THE PORT, MUGS SUSHI AND RAW BAR (finest places to dine on the Space Coast), OBSESSION FISHING CHARTERS 321-453-FISH, Natural Art Surf Shop, and The Cocoa Beach Surf Museum.
