Ho Ho Ho! Its that time of year again, not for Christmas shopping at the mall, but for the for the third stop of the Goldfish Surf Series at Pismo Pier. Its always a great time to have an event in Pismo with the Piers all decorated up with holiday spirit along with some fun ripple wave going off underneath. This year’s event was blessed with some 3-4ft pealing right-handers into the pier, fake snow, eggnog bongs and even jolly old Saint Nick came down to let the kids sit on his lap!
When the kids weren’t hassling Santa Clause or going crazy by scrapping bird poop from the pier in to bucket for prizes, they were burning the rest of their energy off in the water. In the final, little Nat Young and Kokoro Tomatsuri out energized everyone else. They just kept gong and going like the energizer bunny, but when the horn sounded, it would be Nat claming the win and stealing Santa duffle bag full of Christmas goodies, which consisted of a H20 audio Ipod holder. Kokoro took a respectable second with Colin Duncan, Christian Ramirez, Josh Printup, and Kyle Dillard round the final.
The Girls competitors showed up hoping there would be some mistletoe hanging from the tent so they could get some Christmas kissing on with the boys. But to there surprise, it was just jolly old Saint Nick with his smelly eggnog breath looking for a kiss. So they ran off screeming and jumped in the water for the girls final. Jenny Quam and Lexi Wilson fought back and forth threw the final like to two-crazed Christmas shopper fighting for the last Barbie Dream House set. In the end it would be Jenny who stole the lead and ran off with the win. She found herself sitting pretty with a backpack full of goodies. Rounding out the rest of the final was Jaime Hannula, Meredith Lockwood, Amy McVicken and Hayley Cameron.
In the Juniors Final it was the usual Goldfish suspects John Weber, Ashton Madeley, Lorin Anderson, Matt Gallagher, Colin Schlidhauer, and Walter Deyerle. Colin started the heat off with a solid 7 and never looked back. He claimed the victory along with a Santa Cruz skatedeck and Custom bottle trophy filled with some sparkling holiday cheer.
The Pro-am Final started off with a Blake Howard posting two impressive scores, he looked to be in rhythm and one his way to the $500 holiday cash prize. But, there was slight detour in his plans, when Kilian Garland found his groove. You can never count Kilian out on his home turf. He closed the final out with an impressive 7, 7.5 and 9 for the win! Blake Howard, Noi Kaulakukui, Eric Soderquist, Nate Tyler, and Danny Hart rounded out the final.
