If surfing some of the biggest and heaviest waves in the world looks tough on camera, it's doubly so behind the scenes. For professional big-wave surfer Bianca Valenti, being one of the best in the world at a life-and-death sport is more than a full-time job; it's a complete dedication to a lifestyle.

In an eye-opening new video from Mode, Valenti pulls back the curtain on what it really takes to compete as one of only a handful of females surfing waves in the 20-foot-and-over range. A massive quiver of boards, a strict diet plan, foam rolling, daily jiu-jitsu and endurance training and a passion for opening up competition to up-and-coming female talent have earned Valenti a hard-won place in the big-wave surfing family, role-model status and even the Best Wave award at the most famous surf spot in the world: Pipeline.
