2015 Rip Curl GromSearch presented by Banzai Bowls, kicks off this weekend in HB

Rip Curl GromSearch presented by Banzai Bowl, June 6 – 7 in Huntington Beach

Costa Mesa, CA (June 4, 2015):  The Rip Curl GromSearch presented by Banzai Bowls is back for its 16th year, kicking off the 2015 surf series this weekend, June 6th and 7th, in Huntington Beach, CA. A packed line up of 160 frothing groms will be battling it out at the South Side of HB Pier for the prestigious regional title.

Similar to previous years, there will be fierce competition in the water this weekend as the highly competitive groms focus on qualifying for a coveted spot in the RCGS National Final returning once again to Upper Trestles on October 24th, 2015. Top contenders featured this weekend include, last year's defending National Champ Kei Kobayashi, as well as notable front-runners Jake Marshal, and Luke Gordon.

SCHEDULE, subject to change:

Fun waves are forecasted for this weekend as we start the event out with a SW swell and NW windswell, in the afternoon a SSW swell is expected to move in and hold through Sunday with increasing size.  With air temperatures in the low 70's and sunny skies in the afternoon, we are looking at favorable conditions for the start of the GromSearch Series.

The four finalists from each division; 16 & under boys, 16 & under girls, 14 & under boys, and 12 & under boys, will all be invited to compete in the National Final. The 16 & under boys and girls National champions will win an all-expense paid trip to compete in the RCGS International Final – location to be determined, as we will be going on the Search to a new location each year.
