The tough economic times have claimed another victim. Rothschild, Wisconsin’s Dwellers Skate & Snow is being forced to call it quits.
According to the Wausau Daily Herald:
Less than two years after moving his skateboard and snowboard shop from downtown Wausau to the Cedar Creek Mall in Rothschild, Dwellers owner Jason Garvey is preparing to close shop for good.
Garvey said the new location played a part in his decision, but primarily it came down to the recession's effect on sales.
"We're recreational, some of the hardest hit in tough economic times," said Garvey, who ran Dwellers for about 10 years. "It doesn't matter where you are, it's just rough out there."
Dwellers is holding a going-out-of-business sale, and Garvey expects to close the business on about June 20. He said he has no plans to reopen the store elsewhere.
"I'm going to be looking for the 9-to-5 job now. I want to have a life outside of work," he said. "I greatly appreciate all the support we've had from all our loyal customers over the years. I'll miss them, and I'll miss running the store, but it's time to move on."
