EuroSIMA Snowball 2011 Award Winners

EuroSIMA’s  two-day  “Source European Snowboarding Industry Forum,” which brought together 70 international participants in St Anton, Austria, was held Thursday, April 28, along with the 5th edition of Snowball, an annual party for the European snowboard industry. The annual European Snowboard Industry Awards were also presented at the party, and the following brands were recognized:
• The Breakthrough Brand of the Year given by Source magazine to reward the activity and the efforts of the brand which had an exemplary year in terms of products and brand image development in Europe. The winner 2011 is the brand EVOC SPORTS for its technology BACK PROTECTOR SYSTEM, CE standardized after years of development and research. Built to EVOC “Freeride” backpacks, this system that meets the safety requirements of motorcycling provides effective protection from serious injuries plus sophisticated functions and intelligent detail solutions.

•The Product Innovation of the Year given by the professional trade fair ISPO to the best product of the 11/12 season selected by an independent jury among the winners of the Ispo Boardsports Awards, is the THIRTYTWO Reppin Hoody including STI REPEL technology. A technical innovation which promises protection against liquids and dirt, without compromising the product's comfort and breathability.

• The Lifetime Achievement Award is given by the EuroSIMA's Mountain Divisions Committee to Hermann KAPFERER, the General Manager of BURTON Europe; standing sideways since 1985, at the very beginning of Burton in Europe. Hermann has always been deeply involved into the progression of Snowboarding in Europe and has been one of the key players to establish Snowboarding and to promote the sport.
