FIS Announces 2014 Judging Rules

Skiing’s governing body, FIS, has announced how they will judge snowboarding and freeskiing events In the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and the straight air is going nowhere.

Despite some changes from the 2010 judging, snowboarders will still be required to do a straight air in some part of their run.  The major changes include having six judges instead of five, top and bottom scores will be dropped to help prevent biases, and averaging scores out of 100, instead of adding score together.
