Five ‘Bird Rock Bandits’ Accused of Killing La Jolla Surfer May Have To Stand Trial

Einhorn will decide whether five La Jolla men accused of fatally attacking 24-year-old surfer Emery Kauanui, Jr., last May will be made to stand trial, according to an article posted Thursday, May 8, on the official San Diego Union Tribune Web site. Seth Cravens, 22; Eric House, 21; Orlando Osuna, 23; Matthew Yanke, 21; and Henri "Hank" Hendricks, 22, were arrested last year after Kauanui – who was beaten May 23 by a group of men outside his home on Draper Avenue in La Jolla – died four days later in a hospital, according to the Union Tribune report. If convicted of the crime, the men – who are part of a group who call themselves “the Bird Rock Bandits” – could potentially face life in prison, the UT reports. Read the entire story HERE.
