Kelly Slater narrowly took down dark horse Bede Durbidge in the finals of the Rip Curl Pro today, and clinched his second win of the season. Durbidge scored a respectable 15.16 combined wave score (8.83 + 6.33), but it wasn’t enough to hold off Slates, who put up 15.63 points on the board (8.30 + 7.33). The win puts Slater in solid position, as he’s won both events so far this season. That’s about as solid a start as you can have. Maybe this will help Slater’s Exposure-Meter ranking; he just got knocked out of the top ten last month!
