Kelly Slater Wins 2008 Rip Curl Pro At Bells Beach

slater.jpg Kelly Slater narrowly took down dark horse Bede Durbidge in the finals of the Rip Curl Pro today, and clinched his second win of the season. Durbidge scored a respectable 15.16 combined wave score (8.83 + 6.33), but it wasn’t enough to hold off Slates, who put up 15.63 points on the board (8.30 + 7.33). The win puts Slater in solid position, as he’s won both events so far this season. That’s about as solid a start as you can have. Maybe this will help Slater’s Exposure-Meter ranking; he just got knocked out of the top ten last month!
