NSSA No Longer A Member Of Surfing America

Surf America Logo Surfing America, the national governing body for surfing in the US, announced Wednesday, Feb. 27, that its Board of Directors has acknowledged NSSA’s election not to renew its membership in 2008.

Rather than comply with new membership requirements for member organizations established by the Board of Directors of Surfing America, the Board of Directors of the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) has elected not to renew its membership in Surfing America for 2008. Janice Aragon, executive director of NSSA, advised Surfing America in November, 2007 that the NSSA would not support the membership organization requirements approved by the Board of Directors of Surfing America at its meeting held October 21, 2007.

National Scholastic Surfing Association Logo NSSA is a non-profit organization that supports and mentors youth interested in honing and further developing surfing skills through competition, and is one of the few youth sports organizations that requires participants to maintain academic standards in order to compete.
