Patagonia’s New York Times Ad

Patagonia made its mark in The New York Times on Black Friday, urging customers to not buy their products. The ad is part of the company's Common Threads Initiative, encouraging customers to 'Reduce, Repair, Reuse and Recycle' products to minimize the impact of their consumption on the planet. The ad, boldly warning, "Don't Buy This Jacket," goes on to explain why: "Because Patagonia wants to be in business for a good long time – and leave a world inhabitable for our kids – we want to do the opposite of every other business today. We ask you to buy less and to reflect before you spend a dime on this jacket or anything else.”
