Perisher Blue to open this Saturday

New South Wales, Australia – Perisher Blues’s ‘Celebration of Winter’ will mark the opening of the season on 7 June. Weekend festivities have been planned to ensure a fun filled time for everyone.

Perisher Blue has an array of festivities organised for the season’s kick off and a horde of fun entertainment has been arranged for the young and young at heart including, live music, kid’s fun and circus performers are to run throughout the Queen’s Birthday weekend 7 to 9 June.

The festivities kick off at 6.30pm on Friday night at Smiggins Hotel with live music from King Farook. The fun will continue on Saturday morning with the official opening ceremony beginning with the ‘Blessing of the Snow’ at 10.15am at the bottom of Front Valley.

Highlights for the kids include, a jumping castle, carnival rides and a chance to meet Perisher Blue’s very own Professor Nugget and friends.

For those who have ever dreamt of running away with the circus a workshop, held by Johnny G and the E-Types 11am on Saturday and Sunday at Front Valley, will provide the chance to brush up on circus skills. Or make the mountains shake by joining in the drumming workshop Saturday noon at Front Valley run by Three Quarters Hazel.

Guests of all ages will be spoilt for choice with a host of live music across the weekend from Three Quarters Hazel (Folk/Rock), King Farook (Funk) and soloist Josh Rawiri (Blues Acoustic). Enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Guthega Alpine Hotel with easy listening music from Paul Dion and view the photographic exhibition open from 3pm.

For those wanting a gastronomic treat why not try Snow Gums, The Perisher Valley Hotel’s signature restaurant (call 02 6459 4443 for reservations), open Friday night and Saturday and Sunday for lunch.

Party on Saturday night from 6.30pm – 2am at Jax Bar and Chargrill. Providing the chance to kick back, relax or funk it up and mingle with, Josh Rawiri, and Three Quarters Hazel, Johnny G and the E-Types and King Farook, plus fireworks and a Fire and Ice Show. Best of all, it’s FREE!
