The 2012 Kustom Airstrike went down in June, gathering the world’s best aerial surfers- John John Florence, Chippa Wilson, Ryan Callinan, Albee Layer and Matt Meola- for an trip that had them surfing their way around the Mentawi’s for two weeks. Kustom will take this footage and turn it into 4 webisodes, all to air on the event website in August of 2012.
After the 4 webisodes have premiered, the best punts will be posted to the site, and it becomes the people’s job to vote and decide who managed the most innovative and radical air. The winner will earn himself $50,000, plus the obvious bragging rights.

Gold Coast, 2012: A week ago today, on an otherwise ordinary day, a boat motored out of Padang, on what could easily have been another ordinary surf trip. However, on the boat was perhaps the greatest group of young aerial surfers ever assembled, hand picked to compete in the world's richest aerial surfing event, the 2012 Kustom Airstrike.
Kai Neville is back on board to produce this year's Airstrike, and he was instrumental in ensuring that we had the best possible surfers on the trip. With a winner takes all bounty of USD $50,000 for the most radical and innovative air, every guy has to be capable of lighting it up.
"I've worked with all of these surfers on different projects in the past and I'm stoked to be able to bring them together for the Airstrike. These are some of the most exciting aerial guys in the world right now. The boys are all so pumped and they are going to go loony," says Kai Neville, producer of Modern Collective, Lost Atlas and the soon to be released, Dear Suburbia.
