Sanuk Wins Apparel Magazine Innovation of the Year Award

“In this first-ever “Innovator” edition, Sanuk is being recognized for being one of the truly innovative organizations in the industry.  Michael Cole, Associate Editor, said. “One that has demonstrated excellence through product design and launch, IT-related implementation and other outstanding business strategies that have been recently executed.”

The independently owned Sanuk is credited with creating an entirely new category in casual footwear called Sidewalk Surfers.  Also known as the “Not A Shoes,” Sidewalk Surfers are actually sandals that have a shoe upper attached to them. The result is an addictively comfortable “shoe” that has grown beyond the company’s surf roots and has become a celebrity fashion item.  Brad Pitt, Zach Effron,  Shia LeBouf, and Johnny Rotten, among others have been spotted wearing the “shoes.”
