Sport Chalet Inc. reported a relatively flat revenue and less of a loss for its fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 26. The company (Nasdaq: SPCHA, SPCHB), reported revenue of $95.8 million for fiscal third quarter 2011 compared to $95.3 million for the same quarter 2010. Sport Chalet also reported a loss of $861,000 compared to a $3.8 million loss year-over-year. That translates to a loss of 6 cents per share for the most recent quarter compared to 27 cents per share a year before.
Sport Chalet Chairman and CEO, Craig Levra, commented on the third quarter of fiscal 2011, “Although macroeconomic conditions in our markets continued to be difficult, we were pleased with the continued growth of our Team Sales and ECommerce divisions, the improved strength in gross profit margins and the reduction in borrowings under our credit facility, we went back to doing business the Sport Chalet way, creating full margin sales by providing outstanding customer service.”
