Squaw Valley has named JP Martin as its new terrain park manager. Martin was most recently the terrain park manager at Sugar Bowl Resort on Donner Summit in Lake Tahoe, California and has also worked at Whistler, Mt. Hood, Jackson Hole and many resorts in Japan.
While Martin has built terrain park features for pro skiers and snowboarders, he is dedicated to making parks where younger generations can also progress their riding levels says Squaw Valley.
“I grew up right when all of the skate parks were being closed and bull-dozed, I wanted to do my part to make sure the parks on the mountains didn’t end up the same way. Some of the original terrain parks were huge, and there was no way to work your way up, great for the established pros, but not if you were just getting started,” said Martin.
Squaw Valley is expanding its night skiing this season to include improved lighting in the Riviera Terrain Park and halfpipe.
