During the time of Vietnam two surfers made very different choices… "Between the Lines" is a compelling documentary that puts their respective stories out there. Written and produced by local surfers Ty Ponder, Scott Bass, and Troy Page, with narration by John Milius, the film will be shown for the first time in Oceanside at the Grace Chapel Theater on Saturday, April 18 at 7pm.
Many of the film's personalities will be in attendance, and the theater lobby will be filled with a variety of Vietnam photos and memorabilia. CSM member Bruce Blandy will display the surfboard he crafted in Vietnam. DVDs of the film will be available for sale, as will a companion book honoring the movie and the first-ever Vietnam veterans' paddleout (which was held in Oceanside in 2007).
The 5pm VIP Reception ($25, includes film) offers food, beverages, live surf music by the Duo-Tones, and a special opportunity to mingle with cast, crew, and surfing personalities before the movie. General admission tickets are $10. Both are available online and at the museum. The theater will open to the general public at 6:30pm, with opening ceremonies at 7pm, film at 7:30. Grace Chapel, 102 N Freeman St., Oceanside.
