Twitter Aquires Security Company To Protect Smartphone Users

With social media becoming more intrusive and just flat out creepy, Twitter has taken a proactive step to protect its users. The social network has acquired Whisper Systems, a start-up that designs software to enhance security and privacy for smartphones and mobile devices. “The Whisper Systems team is joining Twitter starting today,” Twitter said in an emailed statement on Monday, found on Reuters. “As part of our fast-growing engineering team, they will be bringing their technology and security expertise to Twitter’s products and services. We’re happy to have Moxie and Stuart onboard.” Whisper Systems co-founders, Moxie Marlinspike and Stuart Anderson, are both highly respected Internet-security professionals in the tech world. The duo and their team will lead Twitter towards a heightened security system that will protect the micro-blogging site from hackers.
