Broomfield, CO, August 21, 2012 – Inspired by requests from employees to have a more robust volunteer program, Vail Resorts developed the new program called Vail Resorts Epic Volunteer, an extension of Vail Resorts Echo, the company's corporate stewardship program that launched in 2009. Each year, Vail Resorts Echo donates more than $6 million to non-profits throughout the communities in which the company operates, as well as more than 8,500 hours of volunteer time, with a focus on supporting youth and the environment.
"As a company, Vail Resorts wanted to expand the footprint of the Echo program by providing select employees the opportunity to participate in an Epic, life-changing experience through paid time off for longer volunteer projects," said Rob Katz, Vail Resorts chairman and chief executive officer. We were inspired by our employees' enthusiasm and passion for volunteerism which is why we developed Epic Volunteers. Epic Volunteers will provide employees the chance to have a more enriching, in-depth Experience of a Lifetime, and to continue their commitment to Do Good in our communities or around the world."
All full-time year-round and full-time seasonal Vail Resorts employees can apply for the Vail Resorts Epic Volunteers Program. Through two application cycles each year, up to 50 employees will be selected to volunteer with a charity or project of their choice either in one of the communities where Vail Resorts operates, across the country or internationally. Selected projects will be in line with Vail Resorts Echo's mission of helping youth and/or the environment, and projects cannot be for an advocacy program, political in nature, or for a religious cause.
