OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE – VAIL, Colo.—Dec. 2, 2008—Thanks to a series of recent snowstorms over the holiday weekend and more snow on the way, Vail Mountain plans to offer more than 1,000 acres of terrain by Friday, Dec. 5. The new terrain can be accessed by 14 lifts, including the Game Creek Express Lift (Chair 7) and the Northwoods Express Lift (Chair 11). Guests skiing and snowboarding as early as Wednesday may also find unannounced lifts and terrain open in advance of the scheduled weekend openings, but still must obey posted closures.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 the following lifts and portions of terrain in these areas will open for the 2008-2009 ski season:

Wildwood Express Lift (Chair 3)
Mountaintop Express Lift (Chair 4)

4 Beginner Surface Lifts (at Eagle's Nest, LionsHead and Golden Peak)
The Pride Express Lift (Chair 26) will open on Saturday, Dec. 6, as well as the Cascade Village Lift (Chair 20) providing access to Vail Mountain directly from Cascade Village.
"The added snow over the Thanksgiving holiday has significantly helped us boost the amount of terrain we can offer to our guests," said Julie Rust, Vail's director of ski patrol, Yellow Jackets and Community Guest Services. "With more snow on the way, Vail Mountain is in great shape for the early season. However, guests must continue to abide by the Responsibility Code and posted closures until we can safely open additional terrain."
Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy lunch on the mountain at Wildwood Restaurant, the Marketplace at Eagle's Nest, Buffalo's at the top of Chair 4, and the Look Ma level at Mid Vail. The Terrace Level at Mid-Vail will open on Saturday. Both the Vail and Lionshead Snowsports School locations are open for adult and children's private and group lessons. The Small World Nursery at Golden Peak provides childcare for ages 2 months to 6 years.
Vail Snow Daze kicks off on Monday, Dec. 8 with six days of events and activities. Big Head Todd & The Monsters will appear live at Dobson Ice Arena on Dec. 11, followed by Leftover Salmon on Dec. 12.
