OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE – Winter Park, CO – Winter Park Resort is proud to announce that two employees have been selected by Colorado Ski Country USA as Slope Groomer of the Year and Terrain Master of the Year. 35-year long employee Doug Trostel received the 2007/08 Colorado Ski Country USA Award for Slope Groomer of the Year and five year long employee Sean Daniels, a.k.a. Nordberg Dugelsford, received the 2007/08 Colorado Ski Country USA Award for Terrain Master of the Year.
Competing against 25 other Colorado Ski Country USA resorts, both Trostel’s and Daniels’ victory is a direct result of leadership, safety awareness, personal initiative, employee relations, and knowledge of changing technology and weather conditions.
Colorado Ski Country USA honored both winners at an industry banquet held on Tuesday, April 1 in Grand Junction. There, Trostel and Daniels’ received an engraved plaque and winter jacket featuring the Colorado Ski Country USA logo. Trostel and Daniels will again be recognized for their efforts at Colorado Ski Country USA’s 45th Annual Meeting on June 12 at Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Crested Butte.
“We couldn’t be more pleased for Colorado Ski Country USA to recognize both Doug and Sean’s hard work,” said Ron Richards, Winter Park Resort’s slope maintenance supervisor. “Doug is an amazing leader, one who never has people quit his crew, only has people begging to be a part of it. When I first started at Winter Park Resort in 1978 there was only a crew of four and those four are still here. Loyalty like that can only be a direct result of leadership and fairness, both of which Doug is known for.” As for Sean, Ron states, “his ability to listen to input and exchange ideas with both staff and patrons has allowed our park system to go from unknown to seventh in North America in just a few years.”
