Nike’s massive Beaverton, Oregon, campus is about to get bigger.
Although Nike has yet to comment, real estate and construction experts say the project is ringing in at the tune of $1 billion.
The expansion is expected to be complete by 2018, and adds a combination of office space, mixed use facilities and parking space to Nike’s 213-acre headquarters.
According to Nike, this project is the last chapter in a series of work on campus that began in the 90s. The buildings are within the company’s master plan for the property, which they have owned since 1984, and the architecture takes cues from “human movement, speed, and the strength and energy of completion,” according to Nike.
The designs have also been developed with LEED Platinum Certification in mind. Some of the sustainable aspects include natural daylighting, passive chilled beams — a radiant convection system designed to heat or cool large buildings — and a closed-looped grey water treatment center.
