AMPLITUDE WINTER RESORT PROMOTION ENTERS SECOND YEAR
Annual music CD distributed at 15 major U.S. winter resorts
DURHAM, NC–The Splinter Group today announced the release of Amplitude 02, the second volume of their annual winter resort promotional music sampler. Over 30,000 CDs are currently being distributed free-of-charge to young active consumers at fifteen of the best winter resorts throughout the US during the 2002 winter season.
Supported by major and independent record labels, Amplitude was created as a unique marketing tool for both record companies and winter resorts. Music labels get an unprecedented vehicle to expose new and developing artists, as well as artists who’s marketing efforts are focused on action sports participants. For each participating resort, Amplitude extends their branding to a younger demographic by providing an appealing, cutting edge tool that’s delivered directly by the resort.
Over 57 million people visited winter resorts last year, and 75% of snowboarders were under age 24. Young skiers and snowboarders are a very active and affluent consumer group that is also the consumer target of pre-recorded music.
Amplitude 02 also contains interactive content for use in CDROM drives. The program includes a short action sports video and links to the participating artists, labels, and resorts.
A special version of Amplitude 02 was produced this year for the Snowsports Industries America annual trade show in Las Vegas, NV January 29-February 1. Atomic Snowboards sponsored the CD, which is being included in 5,000 bags given to registered buyers at the show. The CD package includes additional panels featuring Atomic Snowboards’ new advertising campaign for the upcoming season.
