Vernon, B.C., Canada (December, 2001) – Far West Industries Inc. has announced a three-year strategic partnership with the two world-class resorts, Big White Resort Ltd. and Silver Star Mountain Resort. The timing of the deal is great, as the 2002 season marks a significant milestone for Far West Industries Inc. The company will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Far West Industries Inc. considers resort alliances at the top of their marketing plan, currently in partnership with Big White, Silver Star and Mount Seymour, the three resorts account for over one million annual resort visits. “We will continue to look for resort partners that fit our plan to fuel brand awareness and increase sales”, commented Brad McCann, Director of Marketing at Far West Industries Inc. The alliances will allow the company to further its brand positioning communication in an environment that is very relevant to its products and core consumers. “Our brands have really evolved over the last two years and this is the perfect stage to get the message out there”, stated McCann.
Big White Ski Resort and Silver Star Mountain Resort have received major television exposure in the Pacific Northwest this season and are recipients of many awards. Big White is the second most visited resort in the Pacific Northwest with aggressive growth plans, international exposure and 600,000 skier/snowboarder visits. Silver Star was voted Ski Area of the Year in 2001 by the Farwest Skiers Association, one of the largest U.S. ski groups.
Over the next three-years, Big White and Silver Star terrain-park and slope watch staff will be wearing Concept Performance Apparel. Mountain Patrollers, Guest Services, Hotel Management and Area Management will be wearing Far West Outdoor Clothing. “Our long-term goal is to outfit all visible staff on both mountains”, said McCann. Concept will be the apparel sponsor for all sanctioned Big White and Silver Star snowboard events including the Neil Edgeworth Memorial banked slalom, all half-pipe and quarter-pipe and BoarderX events. The agreement also includes a highly visible signage package for events, lift towers and snowboard areas. Retail store promotions, on-hill rider promotions and lift pass hang tag vouchers on all Concept and Far West products are also in the works.
