The Chairman of Rip Curl Group Mr. James Strong today announced the appointment of Mr. David Lawn as Chief Executive Officer of Rip Curl Australia.
Mr. Strong said Rip Curl was delighted to have secured the services of an outstanding executive with extensive experience in brand management, product creation and sourcing, retail operations, and distribution in the apparel and related industries in Australia and the United States.
“Initially David will take over responsibility for Australia and New Zealand from Brian Singer (one of the founders of Rip Curl) who will continue as group CEO until the end of this year” Mr. Strong said.
“David has been selected to take over from Brian as Chief Executive Officer of the Rip Curl Group after a settling in period. In the interim Brian will continue to be responsible for group performance including operations in Europe, USA and Brazil as well as licensee business in Asia Pacific”.
Mr. Strong said he has worked closely with the founders of Rip Curl, Brian Singer and Doug Warbrick in the selection process.
“We all consider this to be a key step in continuing to build the brand and product strengths of Rip Curl. Brian and Doug will continue their close involvement both as Directors and executives of the Group. In the longer-term they will be non-executive directors on a continuing basis”.
“It is vital for us to have Brian and Doug involved in the company and the industry long-term, not only as owners but also as custodians of the brand and all that Rip Curl stands for, the company and brand values, and the lifestyle of “the endless search”.
