The SkatePark Of Tampa has announced that DVS Shoes and Quiksilver have signed on as title sponsors for the 2001 Tampa Am contest, January 19–21. The annual event is regarded as the de facto amateur championships, based on the range of entrants it attracts and the high level of skateboarding that has typified the contest. Registration for the 2001 Tampa Am contest is already full, and it promises to be as exciting an event as ever before.
Prizes for the 2001 Tampa Am event include round-trip airfare paid by SPoT for winners in the street, vert, and street best-trick events; watches by Nixon; snowboards and equipment from World Industries; and a new car for the street winner courtesy of SPoT, Monsterskate.com, and Larry Perkins. Krux will fund the 3,000-dollar Best Trick purse, and Santa Cruz and Independent have promised fifteen kegs for the SPoT anniversary party.
