Aspen/Snowmass Village, Colo. – The 2nd Annual KickAspen Big AirInvitational and the 2nd Annual Wild Dash for Cash return to Aspen on March31 to kick off the 180 Aspen Spring Jam and the opening of Aspen Mountain tosnowboarding on April 1.The KickAspen Big Air Invitational promises to be one of the most impressivebig air events of the season, featuring top freestyle snowboarders performing breathtaking aerial jumps at the base of AspenMountain. The combination of world class competition, top prize money, DJ’sand post event party will showcase today’s snowboarding culture.The competition runs from 3-4:30 p.m. followed by live music from 4:30 – 6p.m and a post party at 7 p.m.
Professional athletes competing include Chad Otterstrom, and Gabe Taylor. Local talent includes Ryan Lougee. Prize money is $13,000 with $5,000 for 1st place, $1,000for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place.DJ Jimmy will be spinning during the competition followed by performances bySouls of Mischief and Pep Love of Hieroglyphics and a post party withRazel’s DJ JS1.
Aspen Mountain opens to snowboarding on April 1, 2001, with free donuts andcoffee, opening ceremonies, public jams, demos, mountain tours, live music,a public barbecue, parties and ton’s of prize giveaways. The music line-upincludes Warsaw, Del, Casual, Sucker and an evening concert at the DoubleDiamond with Sucker and Hieroglyphics.
