Sandy, UT – March 26, 2003 – Marc Frank Montoya, world ranked snowboarder has entered into an agreement to purchase the historic Lampliter Inn Hotel in South Lake Tahoe for $1,435,000. Escrow is scheduled to close March 31, 2003.
Partnering with Montoya is veteran hotelier, Liko S. Smith, formerly General Manager of the Carmel Mission Inn. Smith is currently Vice President of Tour and Travel Sales for PVI Hotel Group. The property will be co-owned by Montoya and Smith, while Eagle Eye LLC will manage the property.
“I noticed many of the same property qualities and market dynamics that I saw in Carmel, except that this property does not have the limitations of a franchise. I think the potential is limitless,” commented Smith. “We can add improvements, services and amenities that are seldom seen in this area under Marcs direction”. The target customers will be skiers, snowboarders, mountain-bikers, adventure seekers, eco travelers and international customers
The Inn is a 2-story boutique property with upper level decks and elevated spa. It has hosted thousands of visitors since opening in 1967. Known for its friendly service, quality rooms and amenities, the property consists of 28 rooms and suites. Each room consists of vastly different layout, design and décor. The hotel is located directly across from Harveys and Harrahs Lake Tahoe Casinos at Stateline, NV, and will be directly adjacent to the incoming convention center.
Marc Frank Montoya will exclusively market the property and advise on renovations and services to reach the target demographic. He will also be staying at the property on his visits to Tahoe creating a single suite to match his home. “This is going to be dope,” claims Montoya. “We hope to capture a new brand of hotel customer and psychographics that I think works in South Lake Tahoe. It wont be your typical hotel”.
Montoya and Smith plan to leverage the past history of the hotel while adding new services and amenities, which modernize the current structure and services for its customers. Ski.com and Heavenly Resorts have already expressed interest in partnering with Montoya and Smith.
A grand opening is scheduled for Summer 03.
Marc Frank Montoya resides in Las Vegas, Denver and Sandy, UT with his wife and two children.
