Rusty Girls Welcomes New Head Swimwear Designer

Rusty has hired a new head designer for its girls swim division, Erika Marini. Her first line will debut at ASR. “Erika Marini brings a fresh glamorous feel to our Spring 2002 swim line,” says Carrie Ortiz, Rusty Girls marketing manager.

Marini joins Rusty with design experience from Ralph Lauren swim and Roxy swim. “My design inspiration comes from many places–music, MTV, the beach, flea markets, the streets, vintage stores, and fashion magazines,” says Marini. “This broad view helps keep our Rusty’s vision fresh and in touch with the ever changing and diverse Rusty juniors’ customer. Rusty Swim has been very successful, and I would like to add my signature to the line by adjusting our fits and adding new styles and fabrics to accommodate a more savvy juniors’ customer.”

Rusty Girls swim started in 1997, and has enjoyed the strongest growth of any of the girls divisions in the company. “We are excited about the kind of increases the line will experience by bringing someone like Erika on board,” says Ortiz.
