So Cal legends Vans shoes and Social Distortion are working together on limited-edition Old Skools and Sk8-Hi’s exclusively available on vans.com. This is the latest addition to the Vans Web Exclusive Series. Vans worked closely with Social D on designing Old Skools and Sk8-Hi’s to the band members’ specifications. Both shoes feature the Skelly logo along with a Social Distortion tongue label.

The Big Apple’s most prominent skate brand, Zoo York, will make its venture into the footwear market when it releases its shoe line for the Fall 2003 season. Company Cofounder and Designer Eli Morgan Gesner says, “When we first considered doing footwear, we were all like, ‘Man, what are we gonna do, another skateboard sneaker?’ I mean, as far as that goes what really hasn’t been done?” he says. “So we just ended up making sneakers that we liked, ’cause you know, we’re just gonna skate in them anyways.”
Cofounder Adam Schatz adds, “Zoo York sneakers have a casual rather than technical approach and will have a distinct lifestyle appeal across action-sport genres.”
