Split has announced the inaugural Split Girl Skateboarding “Learn to Ride,” which will take place on Sunday, October 1, 2000 at the Mission Valley YMCA Skate Park in San Diego, California from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Split pros Andy Macdonald, Neil Hendrix, and Danny Gonzales will make special appearances and assist in the teaching. Split Girl has also annouced that the Snowboarding “Learn to Ride” events for the 2000/2001 season will kick-off at the Mountain High resort in Wrightwood, California on December 9, 2000. In addition, the inaugural motocross event will take place in April, 2001. Also to be announced soon are dates for wakeboarding, surfing and additional skateboarding events for 2001.
The Split Girl Skateboarding a “Learn to Ride” event is open to girls of all ages, costs only five dollars per person, and includes skateboard lessons, a commemorative Split Girl T-shirt, a gift bag, lunch from Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, and a chance to win Split Girl apparel.
“Our ‘Learn to Ride’ program is meant to give girls the opportunity to participate in board sports such as snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, wakeboarding and motocross in a relaxed, fun environment,” says Mark Sperling, Director of Marketing for Split. “With this program Split Girl can help teach these sports and encourage girls to participate in them right along side the boys.”
Split Girl, a division of Split, premiered its first collection for spring 2000 and will be available at select specialty stores across the country in early February.
