Globe International, manufacturer of the Globe and Gallaz footwear and apparel brands, has announced the hiring of four additional people to its marketing department effective immediately. Tim Garrett and Eddie Anaya, formerly of McElroy Communications, Cary Allington, former marketing director at Vans, Shaun Burrell, an ex-pro surfer, all join the Globe team, which also includes Kelley Peery, who together position the company for continued growth.
Tim Garrett, named to the newly created position of vice president of global marketing, brings fourteen years of marketing, advertising, promotions and media expertise to Globe. Tim comes from McElroy Communications, the preeminent action sports advertising agency based in Newport Beach, Calif., where he was instrumental in taking the company from a small design house to a full service marketing and advertising agency focused on action sports and the youth market in general. Tim has contributed to building brands such as Vans, Mountain High, Hot Wheels and Microsoft’s X-Box. In his position at Globe, Tim will focus on managing the Globe and Gallaz brands globally and work with the company’s international divisions to assure a consistent marketing message worldwide.
Cary Allington, the company’s new marketing director, will focus on marketing strategies for the North American market. Cary spent six years at Vans before leaving the company to enter the two-year MBA program at USC. He developed and managed various marketing programs while at Vans including sponsorship of the Vans Warped Tour. Most recently Cary has been providing marketing consulting services and developing an information product for the surf/skate industry through his company, CDA Marketing. Cary replaces Kevin Flanagan, who left the company to pursue other opportunities.

Further enhancing the marketing team are marketing managers Eddie Anaya and Kelley Peery. Eddie comes to Globe from McElroy Communications where he was an account supervisor on such accounts as Vans and G-Shock. Previous to McElroy, Eddie was on the editorial staff at Surfer Magazine. Kelley has been with Globe for three years and will continue to manage marketing programs for both the Globe and Gallaz brands.
Shaun Burrell rounds out Globe’s sports marketing department as the company’s new surf team manager. After winning the NSSA Nationals in 1996, Shaun moved his way up to the WQS series and was a member of the 1998 U.S. Surf Team. Following a career-threatening shoulder injury, Burrell began attending college and taking marketing courses to begin his career outside of the competitive surfing world.
