VAIL, Colo. —Jan. 3, 2002—Vail will open its Golden Peak Superpipe tomorrow morning, providing freeskiers and snowboarders with one the best pipes in the country. This year, the Superpipe tops out at more than 400 feet in length with 15-foot walls and 17-foot transitions.
“The Superpipe is steeper and longer than it has been in previous years,” said Stephen Laterra, Vail’s pipe and park designer. “This is Vail’s best pipe yet because the pipe and park crew really took the time to make sure it was done right.”
In addition to the Superpipe, skiers and snowboarders can also access portions of the Golden Peak terrain park. The remainder of the park is expected to open by the end of next week.
