Luxury hotel’s new concierge program caters to adventure travelers

Traveling to a far-flung destination in search of wild adventures and unforgettable experiences can be an intimidating endeavor to dive into.

Destinations may be more difficult to reach that you had anticipated, accommodations may be less than ideal and the adventures you originally sought may be entirely different than you had hoped.

For many, the adventure and dirtbag experience is the main draw. For others, their idea of a vacation includes down pillows and room service.

But why can’t you have a happy mix of both?

The Westin has recently introduced their new concierge program at many of their locations around the world in a major effort to elevate the experiences of their guests.

Three major themes drive the initiative: health, fitness and adventure.

You arrive at your hotel, check in with the concierge and let them know which adventure activities you’re in the mood to dive into. They’ll get you going.

It’s as simple as that.

From hiking to surfing to seeking powder stashes in the trees — even golf and tennis —The Westin has you covered.

Here some of the new activities they’re rolling out in this program for their adventure-seeking travelers.

Having a local guide on the mountain

Have you ever traveled to a world-class ski destination only to find yourself lapping the same two runs on the mountain all day?

Well, The Westin’s new concierge program at their Monache Resort in Mammoth Lakes, California, will get you dialed in with some serious local knowledge.

Literally, they’ll get you out on the hill with a local skier/snowboarder to show you the hidden gems.

It doesn’t get much more insider than that. They take you wherever your skill level (and courage) will allow, and can show you the spots that most visitors never even knew existed.

From absolute beginner to adventure-seeking expert, they’ll keep you stoked.

Teaching you how to surf

The Westin Los Angeles Airport now offers some epic surf lessons for their guests. From absolute novice to intermediate and advanced, surfers staying at The Westin will get hooked up with gear, in the water and on their feet at nearby local spots.

The best part? You won’t have to lug your surfboard on the airplane and pay those wretched surfboard baggage fees.

That alone is worth its weight in, well, surfboards.

Exploring trails and urban running

If “hoofing it” is more your style, The Westin offers programs that cater to the hiker or jogger in your group.

Whether it’s setting out for a run through the city, a slow saunter through the woods or even a leg-burning hike through the hills, they have a program for that.

Sharpening your golf game with a pro

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Phoenix is the place to go to hone your golf game. With professional golf instructors on hand to iron out your golf-swing kinks, you can tighten up your game and shave stokes from your scorecard.

And when you’re all done on the course, you get to relax at your luxury resort. What could be better?

Improving your tennis skills with the experts

The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa in Vancouver will debut The Westin’s first-ever tennis program.

You can enroll in clinics that cater to first-timers all the way to advanced players, and they’ll have their expert instructors run you through the drills.

Again, this is all taken care of on site and at your leisure.
