Tom Veiga, an accomplished Brazilian artist and designer is showcasing his talents in a collaboration with Billabong. The new clothing line pops with colors that complement the beach and ocean to perfection. His artwork is displayed on boardshorts, bathing suits, beach bags, wallets, T-shirts, hats, hoodies and even flip-flops.
We got to talk a little bit with Veiga about partnering with Billabong and how he draws artistic inspiration from the movement of the ocean. Here’s what he had to say:
What inspires you to create?
As long as I have enjoyed surfing I have been inspired by the waves that God created. To me they are like the smile of the sea. I wanted to reflect my passion for them and the differences in each wave through my art. Each wave around the world has a unique style, a unique color, shape, speed, intensity, and volume.
How did you get involved with Billabong?
In December 2010, the Director of Marketing in Europe at Billabong Girls, Christelle Kipping, contacted me to participate in this collection as a guest artist. I was honored by the invitation and in January 2011 made three pieces exclusively for Billabong that conveyed the movement, contrast, colors, and joy of Brazil.
In five words or less how would you best describe this collection?
Color, joy, life and waves.
