CYPRESS, Calif. (March 12, 2014) - Vans invites aspiring filmmakers across the country to share stories of #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL through a short-film documentary competition - Be A Documentarian. Inspired by the fans and wave of creativity that came with the launch of #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL, Vans is now opening the concept to all aspiring filmmakers for the chance to win a $50,000 donation toward completing a personal film project.
"We are so inspired by what the documentarians and our fans have been doing with #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL that we had to make the next level happen to say thank you," said Doug Palladini, vice president and general manager of the Americas at Vans. "We just launched this ongoing effort and hundreds of thousands globally are already jumping in to be a part of our family."
Be A Documentarian is an extension of Vans' #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL Documentary Series which debuted on www.vans.com/livingoffthewall in February. The competition seeks to inspire and support aspiring filmmakers while unveiling a vast exploration of living "Off the Wall." The filmmakers will be provided a creative brief and tasked with creating a 3-6 minute short-film documentary that shares their interpretation of living "Off the Wall." A panel of judges will review eligible videos and determine a winner based on creativity, originality, appeal and technical quality. The prevailing documentary will be featured in Vans' #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL Documentary Series and the filmmaker will receive a $50,000 donation toward completing a personal film project currently in development phase.
Filmmakers can enter their documentary on the Vans #LIVINGOFFTHEWALL website http://www.vans.com/livingoffthewall beginning March 10 to May 26, 2014. The competition is open to US residents only. Additional information, rules and guidelines can be found on the Be A Documentarian tab on the website.
