Here’s a much more effective way to split firewood

If you’ve ever split firewood with an axe, you know it’s a difficult task. Splitting it vertically always presents obstacles: it never stays put, the axe always gets stuck and it never splits on one try. It also can present a dangerous problem when you miss. Fear not though, as Taras Kulakov (a.k.a the Crazy Russian Hacker on YouTube) has a much more effective technique for you.

Instead of splitting it vertically on the top and standing up on another log, lay the log at an angle against another log that’s lying down and split it along the bark vertically. No more fussing with a log that won’t stand still, no more getting the axe stuck and no more wasting energy trying to split logs.

Whether camping or heating your house, this how to is a simple yet much-needed upgrade to a centuries-old problem.
