For all the amazing highlights and stories coming from Nitro Circus Live in Las Vegas this past weekend, there’s some disappointing news surfacing. Levi Sherwood was severely injured when he was forced to eject in mid air after his bike skipped in to neutral on the takeoff.
Sherwood broke two bones in his left wrist, lacerated his liver, bruised a lung, banged up his kidney, and fractured a couple of vertebrae.
Sherwood’s 2011 competition season will come to an abrupt end. He’s currently 4th in the Red Bull X Fighters overall rankings after two events and was slated to compete at X Games 17 in July where he won a silver in Moto X Freestyle last year behind Travis Pastrana.
This is disappointing news in the FMX world as Levi was set to make some noise on the competition circuit.
In a recent interview from his hospital bed in Las Vegas Sherwood reflected on the accident, “It’s FMX:Shit Happens.”
