Car frozen solid by storm near Lake Erie

While the stormy weather that rolled through the heartland of North America proved to be a godsend for a few intrepid surfers on the Great Lakes, it was also a tremendous nuisance for many local residents, most notably one poor soul whose car was frozen solid alongside Lake Erie.

Justin Yelen, a 24-year-old resident of Hamburg, New York, went for a few drinks on Sunday with friends at a bar. Instead of making the foolish decision to drink and drive, Yelen left his car in a parking lot alongside Lake Erie overnight to get home safely.

Unfortunately for Yelen, the reparation for his prudent decision was a car encased in a wall of ice.

As shown in a tweet that has since gone viral by reporter Matt Bove of WKBW, with temperatures below freezing overnight and wind blowing water off of Lake Erie, Yelen’s entire car quickly froze.

Now, a befuddled Yelen says he has no clue how he’s going to get his frozen car out from underneath all the ice.

“I hope summer comes soon,” Yelen jokingly told WKBW.

As the image of Yelen’s car continued to spread, everywhere from Good Morning America to ABC News reported on it, amassing millions of views.
