Yosemite climbers Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson are attempting to make history by becoming the first to free climb the Dawn Wall on Yosemite's famous El Capitan. They began their climb on December 27 and are nearing the top. They are climbing using only their hands and feet, only using a safety rope to catch them if they fall.

You can watch their progress live via NBC News:

According to the Fresno Bee, Jorgeson's girlfriend was among a group of eight people who were climbing and hiking to El Capitan's summit to greet the duo, who were expected to reach the top by Wednesday afternoon.
