The Original Skate Shoe Maker is Pleased to Announce Van Engelen Joins Vans Team

Santa Fe Springs, CA (October 26, 2005) – The crew at Vans is pleased to announce that Anthony Van Engelen has joined the team. Van Engelen's first signature Vans shoe will be available in skate shops in mid-2006. Van Engelen and Vans struck a multi-shoe deal, so Vans designers are looking forward to working with Anthony on this shoe and beyond.

“Vans skate shoes are a staple in every skateboarder’s life at some point,” said Van Engelen. “I’ve always been drawn to the good, clean style that Vans is known for.”

Van Engelen, a skater with a rare combination of strength and style, grew up skating in his native San Diego and went pro in 1999 at the age of 21 with his board sponsor, Alien Workshop.

In addition to Vans skate shoes, Anthony is also supported by Alien Workshop, Analog, Spitfire and Royal Trucks.

The Vans skate team also includes Geoff Rowley, Tony Trujillo, Jim Greco, John Cardiel, Dustin Dollin, Ethan Fowler, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Christian Hosoi, Ray Barbee, Omar Hassan, Johnny Layton, Scott Kane, Van Wastell, Danny Cerezini, Raymond Molinar and Angel Ramirez.
