Vans hosts Community Skate Jam at North Shore’s Banzai Skatepark; photos

With the Vans World Cup at Sunset Beach wrapped up last Saturday (congrats, Conner!) and the Billabong Pipe Masters waiting period beginning Dec. 8, the community of local and visiting members of the surf industry here on the North Shore are biding the in-between days of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.

On Sunday, Vans took the downtime opportunity to hold a Community Skate Jam, hosted by Ivan and Nathan Florence, at Banzai Skatepark.

“We wanted to hold an all-inclusive community jam and link the kids with the pros, rather than just hold a competition,” says Kathy Miranda of Vans Global Public Relations.

And link the kids with the pros they did, as skaters as young as seven years old shared the bowl with the likes of Nathan Fletcher and the Florence family.

Vans team members like Joel Tudor, Dylan Graves and the Gudauskas clan joined the fun, but really, the groms were the ones commanding the park. Here are a few photos from a great community day as the North Shore awaits the final contest of the VTCS.
