Two-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White was injured for a second time this fall while training for the 2018 Winter Olympics. On Sunday, the snowboarder posted an image and message on Instagram showing a nasty gash on his forehead while in a hospital bed.
I've always lived my life by pushing the limits. Winning is great, but it's the tough times that truly define you. I took a slam while training the other day, but don't worry I'll be back soon and better than ever!! Thanks @beatsbydre for bringing me into the family. #NormalisBoring #1of1 #RockNRoll
White is currently training in New Zealand for this winter’s Olympics, and NBC Sports says, “White was in the hospital after a ‘straight up old fashioned face plant.'”
Back in early September, White suffered another crash during halfpipe practice at the Winter Games New Zealand, forcing him to withdraw from the event and stay off his board for a few weeks.
It remains to be seen how long White might be out this time, but he claims he’ll “be back soon and better than ever.”
White does have plenty of time to heal up and be ready for the Olympic qualifiers that ramp up in December.
