The 3rd Annual Chill Golf Tournament Presented by Transworld Media

Since 1995 Burton snowboards has been running one of the coolest programs out there in our little industry. The Chill program brings snowboarding, surfing, and skateboarding into the lives of disadvantaged youth, who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity.

Snowboarding is the main part of the Chill program because Burton’s main gig is snowboarding, duh. Although, a super fun way to get your gnar on, snowboarding is quite expensive, which excludes many from ever experiencing it.

That’s where Burton comes in. They give give these kids: lift tickets, instruction, bus transportation and head-to-toe gear. This program serves youth who are challenged by issues such as: youth in group homes and foster care, addictions, violence, excessive anger and depression.

Alright, on to the Golf Tournament. To help get this program’s name out there Burton and Chill have been holding a golf tournament in Dana Point, CA for the last three years. Yesterday, they held The Third Annual Chill Golf Tournament presented by Transworld Media.

The event was attended by all sorts of industry people and even some pro shredders like snowboarder Kier Dillon. The events sponsors went all out and hooked us up with all kinds of things like hats, fancy headphones and of course, adult beverages.

The format was teams of four and the best ball was played, which was great for me, since I suck at golf. My team consisted of: Bryan from Burton, Martin from Channel Islands and Andrew from Polo. We finished three under, but because the best ball was played, there were some serious scores put down. Blair Marlin, Bruce and Andy Iron’s manager, and his team shot a 16 under to take the tournament. A fun time was had by all it’s so sick that it was for such a great cause.

Here’s some photos from the day:
