July 28, 2008: – – Tahara — The 2008 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 6-Star Yumeya Billabong Pro Tahara is set to begin within the next 24 hours. The largest ASP event in Japan this season, over 180 international athletes will be attending and Typhoon “Fung-Wong” is set to deliver solid swell to the Tahara region.

The main venue at Akabane Beach is expected to enjoy good waves on the opening day, Tuesday, July 29, 2008, and former ASP World Champion Sunny Garcia (HAW), current No. 2 on the ASP WQS Patrick Gudauskas (USA), former ASP World Junior Champion Kekoa Bacalso (HAW) as well as domestic surf stars Masatoshi Ohno (JPN) and Kenta Hayashi (JPN).

With a slew of international athletes seeing the wily veterans facing progressive up-and-coming standouts, the ASP WQS 6-Star Yumeya Billabong Pro Tahara is shaping up to be a spectacular event. All event action will be broadcast via TOKAI.TV later this summer.
